What is the difference between Siphon and Wash Down Urinals

Wash Down vs Siphon Urinals

A wash out or wash down urinals release water through ports in the top of the urinal or on the side of the lower bowl to clean the urinal and remove waste water. In other words, it fills up the water before cycle down.

A siphon jet urinals use a concentrated stream of water to fill the lower bowl portion of the urinal and create a siphon action through the p-trap. In other words, jet push at the same time when water fills to create a cyclone stream down the drain.

With an integral trap in the urinals, will both wash down & siphon urinals show water in the bottom of the urinal after the flush cycle?

The Urinal that includes the trapway into the VC,  will show water in the bottom after flushing; this is the function of the trapway.

Short explanation:
This urinal has a trapway included and always has water (marked in red), this is the water visible in front of the urinal (Blue arrow)

This urinal does not have trapway included, must be installed an additional plastic/still trapway and you can't see the water.

Even with a strainer installed, the water is still visible, but not as much  (see images below)
