Cause - During usage, especially in hard water conditions, water/debris easily gets into the mechanism slot as shown below, causing it to get stuck or build-ups that make it hard to operate.
Solution:
Immediate (temporary):
Send out DA613156 (per finish), the entire assembly is easy change out, under a few minutes, and the rubber cap should protect the mechanism from any debris getting into the slot.

Permanent solution:
Factory solution is to redesign the plunger mechanism to be positioned upside down and having a protective cap on the trim of the drain cap. ECR was approved in Feb, 2016. This solution is not interchangeable with current drain, therefore will continue providing a temporary solution if the customer does not want to reinstall the complete drain assembly. The part number for the improved plunger assembly is A119108xx (CP, BL, CZ, NP finishes).
